It is not uncommon for businesses to have a number of questions relating to refrigeration and air conditioning services, as it is regarded as a highly specialised industry. The air conditioning and refrigeration industry can be complex and there are some specific questions you may have that can only be answered once an on-site inspection has taken place - please contact us directly in this instance. However, we have created a list of some more general questions that may also help you below.

Air conditioning is more than simply cooling or heating the air; it offers the perfect balance of temperature, fresh air and humidity, even purifying the air, so that you can enjoy comfortable temperatures all year around.

Air conditioning is much more than simply cooling or heating the air; it offers the perfect balance of temperature, fresh air and humidity, even purifying the air, so that you can enjoy the perfect comfort levels all year around. However rising energy prices and ever growing concerns about the environment mean that air conditioning must be highly energy efficient too and modern systems are engineered to deliver maximum value.

No. The outdoor unit only pushes outdoor air through its heat exchanger / coil to cool the refrigerant in the pipes. The only thing that travels from the indoor and outdoor units is liquid refrigerant. The indoor air in your room is circulated through the indoor unit where it passes through another heat exchanger / coil that heats or cools the air.

This is the name of a system that is split into two parts indoor and outdoor unit. (Unlike a single portable or wall unit).

It is now a legal obligation to have an Air Conditioning as part of the Government EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive). There are benefits outside of legal compliance, having your air conditioning system inspected by an Energy Assessor will provide you with valuable feedback on how to improve efficiency and reduce the electrical consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions for your system. Recommendations will be made on improvements to the operation of your existing system or opportunities to replace older, less efficient systems with modern efficient inverter systems.

Compliance

Only buildings with a total cooling Kw rating of 12Kw and over have to be inspected, eg: 1 x 3.5Kw unit plus 1 x 10Kw unit (13.5Kw).

There is a fixed penalty of £300 for failing to have an Air Conditioning inspection. This is a rolling fine with a repeated £300 fine every three months until an inspection has been carried out.

Ducted Air Conditioning

Popular in larger areas, flexible and quietest of all air conditioning systems. Discreet grilles cover the outlets from ducts normally hidden in suspended ceilings. Ducted air conditioning systems are thought to be the most energy efficient.

Air Conditioning Cassette Units

Normally fitted to false or suspended ceiling. Multiple units can share a single external condenser. These and ducted air conditioning systems are ‘as quiet as a whisper’ and great for offices and classrooms.

Ceiling Mounted Air Conditioning

These are popular with smaller spaces, as they don’t require suspended ceilings or any floor or wall space. They are either mounted directly on the ceiling surface or suspended from it. Control panels are normally be wall mounted, some models have a wireless remote control option.

Wall & Floor Mounted Air Conditioning Systems

Flexible systems that are popular in computer rooms, server rooms, office spaces and restaurants, these units can be mounted at any height in a room from floor to ceiling. Multiple units can be connected to a single external condenser depending on the building’s layout. Available in both cooling only or combined heating / cooling versions, efficient and extremely quiet in operation.

Almost all current systems provide dual cooling and heating.

Processes exist for parting out old units, recycling the majority of the material and disposing of chemicals in a responsible manner. Disposal is undertaken by ourselves.
